Two-stories of gorgeous hardwood welcome you into this awesome inner-city non-profit building. This project’s “design” is much more nuanced in this piece. Subtle details — like the 1/16″ space between horizontal boards — make the wall intriguing.
The backlit LED sign was the most challenging task of the project. But we like a challenge. One of our artisans CNCed out the wood that we pre-patterned off to flow into the rest of the wall. We had to paint the back of the polycarbonate where the 1/16″ between boards would show light (where we didn’t want it to). Lots of small details were fun to figure out and navigate. The wall wrapped around to the right, and no end-grain was shown because we did mitered edges on all sides.
